![]() Mars5887, if you are hearing a whistle there is a leak. ![]() But for all I know its a dust shield.Īnyway I didn't have to replace the intake. Then for whatever reason should there be back pressure then maybe that pressure is allowed to exit that breather. The way I see it is that there is vacuum in the intake and that vacuum sucks that clip down to seal that breather. Anythings possible - and not knowing if that clip is suppose to freely move up and down. Now I don't have a clue if that's what fixed it. Put the car back together and no more issues. Put the clip back on and insured that it moved freely. The clip had three long prongs that appeared to allow it to slide up and down on that breather.įound some gunk on it and cleaned it. I removed the some of the oil and gunk on the clip covering the tube. Is it possible the breathing system was disrupted during the gasket replacement and now needs to just be replaced?Īfter using a smoke machine on my car and seeing that little plastic breather leaking. I did have an ever so slight idle issue before replacing the valve cover gasket, but nothing like it is now. Is this piece suppose to be able to breathe like this? Should smoke be exiting the system here? Nothing connects to the end of this piece - it just has a little guard around it that is able to slide up and down a bit. There is only one place that is leaking - it's coming from a tiny valve/connector type piece off of the valve cover. So before I go ahead with this I smoked the car today to check for leaks. It is my understanding that the pvc system and crankcase vent valve are all part of the valve cover. I've been told that the most likely fix is to replace the valve cover itself. Car surges and nearly stalls (sometimes does) when coming to stop and I know after searching everywhere that this is a common issue with all sorts of causes.Ĭheck engine light is on with the following codes -ĢD29 Pressure Difference - Suction tube Plausibility Valve Cover leaking onto exhaust - had gasket replaced along with plugs and I've had a running issue ever since.
